DFG funds new Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) at UBT
Many Congratulations to Vice President for Research & Junior Scholars Professor Christian Laforsch and Team!
On November 26, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced its decision to fund a new Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) at the University of Bayreuth with more than 10 million euros over the next four years.
The CRC will research the effects of microplastic, including its migration and formation, and develop new approaches for solving this pressing environmental problem.
Christian Laforsch, Vice President for Research & Junior Scholars, Chair of Animal Ecology and Spokesperson of the CRC states: “These findings will provide a scientifically sound basis for the evaluation of the environmental risks of MP originating from existing commodity plastics”. Building on this, new environmentally friendly plastics in the spirit of sustainable polymer chemistry are to be developed and verified using model systems.
University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible adds: “More proof of the great scientific quality of research conducted at the University of Bayreuth”.
